Expedition is a platform for exchange between France (the Laboratoires d'Aubervilliers), The Netherlands (Gasthuis / Amsterdam) and Austria (Brut / Vienna) for emerging artists dealing with questions of performance practice, whether in the field of dance, theater, or the visual arts. The group's members included David Weber-Krebs, Guillaume Robert, Andrea Bozič, Barbara Matijevič, Johanna Kirsch, Ralo Mayer, Philip Haupt, Paul Hendrikse, Rémy Héritier, João Sousa Cardoso, Joachim Robbrecht, Cesary Tomaszewski, Katalina Mella Araneda, and Krõõt Juurak.
The work was spread out over three sessions in three different cities: Amsterdam, for two weeks in October 2007, Vienna, for two weeks in March 2008, and the Performing Arts Forum, near Reims, for three weeks in September 2008. br> During each phase, the artists looked for ways of confronting their practice, knowledge, technique and tools, regardless of the differences linked to their geographic and cultural origins, disciplines, paths, and professional networks. They instigated collaborations, debates, and friendships. A book published by the Laboratoires in December 2008 tells of this experience. In it, each artist presents one of his work tools. |
