Expedition is an international platform for artistic exchanges between France (Les Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers), Netherlands (Gasthuis/Amsterdam) and Austria (Brut/Vienna).
Fourteen emerging artists (David Weber-Krebs, Guillaume Robert, Andrea Bozic, Barbara Matijevic, Johanna Kirsh, Ralo Mayer, Philip Haupt, Paul Hendriske, Rémy Héritier, Joao Sousa Cardoso, Joachim Robrecht, Cesary Tomaszewski, Katalina Mella Araneda, Kroot Juurak) from the performing arts, performances or visual arts, coming from the broader European territory meet for 3 work sessions in three different towns : 2 weeks in Amsterdam in October 2007 - 2 weeks in Vienna in March 2008 – 3 weeks in Saint Erne, close to Reims, in September 2008.
Expedition is envisioned to be an open and flexible framework to allow artists to share their knowings, experiences, art practices and to initiate collaborations and new ways of art collective production.
In Amsterdam, the participating artists described the artistic, intellectual and political context of their work and their art producing conditions.
This experiences exchanges was a basis to elaborate shared thematics developped in Vienna through performances, workshops and conferences lead by other invited participants.
During the last work session, organised by Les Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers at PAF (PerformingArtsForum), the artists will try - individually or collectively – to find some answers to these questions through different art forms : performance, website, exhibition, publishing …
