Dance ritual for a group
Audience: teenagers
15-19 July 2013 (2pm-6pm)
Choreographer Latifa Laâbissi, artist in residence at les Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers offers five days of introductory contemporary dance workshops.
“For this workshop, we are going to play around with inventing group dances as a sort of joyful, happy ritual. Every participant can come with a play list of music that they have chosen, songs, music, film soundtracks… We will use them to create scores to accompany the dances:
Dance of rage
Joyful dance
Spoken dance
Calm dance
Hip dance
Magnificent dance
Ghostly dance
Poignant dance
Macabre dance
Festive dance
Grotesque dance
Disjointed dance
Dense dance
Copied dance
Dizzying dance
Mute dance
Exhausted dance
Magic dance”
Choreographed pieces, installations, performance conferences, multidisciplinary collaborations – mixing genres, reflecting on and redefining artistic formats, Latifa Laâbassi’s work explores a landscape enriched by multiple cultural identities that give birth to stories, characters and voices. She shakes up the codes of dance with recalcitrant bodies, multiple stories, combinations of materials that let in signs of the time.
