Something You Should Know is a seminar held at EHESS – the (French) School of High Studies in Social Sciences – by Patricia Falguières, Elisabeth Lebovici and Nataša Petrešin-Bachelez and co-founded with Hans Ulrich Obrist in 2006. Every Wednesday, this seminar is an occasion to hear an artist or a producer talking about his/her work in the cultural field. Mårten Spångberg lives in Stockholm. He is a choreographer, a curator, a researcher and a critic.  His field of interest is choreography, through experimental practices and in a variety of formats and expressions. He has been a performer since 1994 – he has notably collaborated with Xavier Le Roy between 1997 and 2008 and Christine de Smedt/Les Ballets C de la B between 1999 and 2004, Tom Plischke in 2000, Lynda Gaudreau in 2005, Tino Sehgal between 1999 and 2007. Since 1999 he has also created numerous choreographical pieces – solos as well as works including other dancers. With the architect Tor Lindstrand he initiated International Festival, an interdisciplinary practice merging architecture and choreography/performance, thus questioning modes of distribution and the economy of circulation of art and its producers. From 1996 to 2005 Spångberg organized and curated festivals in Sweden and internationally. He initiated the network organization INPEX in 2006. He teaches both theory and practice at the University of Dance in Stockholm (Danshögskolan) where since 2008 he has been a director for the MA program in choreography. Last, he has written numerous articles on dance and performance. His book, Spangbergianism (2011), appears as an element of critical, curatorial and choreographical research in his practice.
