Presentation of joint issue of Maska, Projected Temporality
This trilingual thematic bloc came into being as a creative consequence of a short-term, two month-long research project entitled It Continues. The Appropriation of Time in Contemporary Performance ("A suivre": capturer le temps dans la performance contemporaine) which Bojana Kunst carried out between October and December 2011 in the Parisian residency centre Les Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers. She invited four artists and theorists to contribute to this piece of research (Danae Theodoridou, Ivana Muller, Boyan Manchev, Igor Štromajer) in order to locate, in concert, various ways of speaking about the temporality of a work in art. The central focus of our interest was the relationship between the work of the artist and time, particularly the question of the conditions of time under which contemporary artists work today and how these determine the contemporary production of art.
The texts published within Maska magazine bloc came into being partially within the research projectitself or as its consequence and are marked by a performative style of writing. Other texts clear the way, by more theoretical or accessible means, toward temporality and the way in which contemporary choreographed and theatrical works deal with temporality, especially how they attempt to resist, through their own temporality, the general capitalisation of time and establish themselves as a critical embodiment of temporal perception.
In the presentation of a joint issue of Maska the editor of the magazine Bojana Kunst will present the issue in a discussion with Bojana Bauer and Myrto Katsiki, who also wrote one of the articles for the Projected Temporality issue.

Bojana Bauer is a dance and performance theorist and a dramaturg. She is a PhD candidate at Paris 8 University, France and a researcher at FCT-mctes, Portugal.

Myrto Katsiki is a dance researcher and dancer. She is currently carrying out a PhD at Paris 8 University, Dance Department and teaches choreographic analysis at the Essais program, CNDC Angers.
