For six years, the core of Myriam Lefkowitz's artistic practice is a "mobile" enquiry on modalities of perception. Her research is rooted in a performative device for a spectator and a performer, Walk, Hands, Eyes (a city). During an one hour silent walk in a city, the Guide weaves a special relationship between walking, seeing and touching. The Guide invites the guided person to close their eyes and invites him/her to reopen the time to flash over a dozen images that he extracted all along the route.

The book Walk, Hands, Eyes (a city), attempts to describe the geography constructed by the perceptual experience of Myriam Lefkowitz’s eponymous walk project. The fragmentary book is a montage of conversations conducted with those who took part in the experiment and the guides who worked on the project during its eight-year long activation, as well as exclusive texts by contributors invited by the artist, offering a range of new theoretical, scientific and poetical explorations. The book is not only an archive but also a tool for transmission and a space for observing and analysing the forms of knowledge that emerged from the practice.

With the texts of Myriam Lefkowitz, Yael Kreplak (researcher in social science), Valentina Desideri (choreographeric), Esther Salmona (poet, sound artist and landscaper), Clement Morier (researcher in political theory), Sophie Houdard (anthropologist) and Valérie Pihet (researcher, historian).

The launch of the book, which take place in Les Laboratoires d'Aubervilliers Sunday 25th October 2015 at 4:00 pm, will be the opportunity to meet some of authors of the book as sample some cocktails prepared especially for the occasion.
