OPENING 5

April 6-7, 2005

Élucidation,is a solo by choreographer Loïc Touzé, created at l’IRCAM in 2004 for the Agora festival, to music by Luciano Berio and in collaboration with saxophonist Claude Delangle.

" I haven’t confronted contemporary music for years. I must admit that in my work, I have rather tried to avoid the constraints that music imposes rather than have to submit to the power of the imaginary that it conveys.
Then along came an invitation to take part in the Agora festival, the meeting with the saxophone player Claude Delangle and his interpretation of Sequenzas 7b and 9b by Luciano Berio.

When I listen to that music, it seems like risky terrain, everything is there already. The project is quickly oriented towards the strategies that need to be put in place so that the dance doesn’t just add to, comment or resist the musical composition. The hypothesis is to «understand» the tool that is used, instantaneous composition. Where the music is inexorable in its form, the dance undefines itself, not to oppose or even to melt together but to create a slight movement of amplification while remaining constantly wary of what the imaginary clings to. The dance is made of paper." Loïc Touzé
