La folie des plantes, étude de plantes interdites #3
Wednesday 16th December 2015, 3:00 - 6:00 pm

Réflexions militantes

Let’s start a discussion about the commodification of nature and let’s take medicinal plants and forbidden, travelling, invasive, undesirable and hallucinogenic plants as the protagonists of these exchanges.

For this third workshop, La Semeuse invites you to come and visit the’ Jardins ouvriers des Vertus’ allotments that sprung up in Aubervilliers in 1905 near the Fortifs on what was non-development land at the time. This will be an opportunity to meet experienced gardeners who will be revealing the secrets of the plants in these allotments and the history of Aubervilliers in relation to agriculture in the Île-de-France region over the last two centuries.

Returning to La Semeuse ground, we will be discussing Pierre Lieutaghi’s work, an ethnobotanist attached to the Museum national d’histoire naturelle, in particular via an interview published in the January issue of Jef Klak titled “On ne peut plus se passer de printmeps, parce qu’on n’a plus d’espérance. Plantes, science moderne et pensée magique”. (We can no longer do without Spring. Plants, modern science and magical thought).

For this workshop: Meet us at Fort d’Aubervilliers metro station on metro line 7 at 2.50 pm. We will be setting off to the ‘Jardins ouvriers des Vertus’ at 3 pm sharp.

These workshops are free of charge, open to all and can be joined at any point in the year. They will run one Wednesday per month from 4 pm to 6 pm. Booking is required: reservation@leslaboratoires.org
